Elements and weapon types
Updated 16 Oct 2026
The seven elements
Every unit, weapon, armor and enemy has an element. Six of them form two groups:
| Element | Strong against | Weak against |
|---|---|---|
| Wind | Water | |
| Earth | Fire | |
| Water | Wind | |
| Fire | Earth | |
| Dark | Dark | |
| Holy | Holy | |
| Nothing | Nothing |
- Fire, Wind, Earth and Water form a circle: Fire beats Wind, Wind beats Earth, Earth beats Water, Water beats Fire.
- Holy and Dark hit each other hard both ways. A Holy unit deals big damage to Dark enemies, and takes big damage from them.
- Non-element units (also called Neutral or Void) have no advantage and no weakness.
Hitting an enemy with the element it is weak to shows Weakness and deals much more damage. The other way round, your unit takes much more damage.
Before a quest, look at the enemies' element on the quest screen and bring units that beat it. Every event page in Quests & Events lists the bosses.
Matching elements on gear
A unit gets a stat bonus from weapons and armor of its own element. This works for every element, including Non-element gear on Non-element units. When two pieces of gear are close, pick the one that matches.
Weapon types
Each unit uses one weapon type and can only equip weapons of that type.
| Weapon | Attack type | Guard or charge | Units | Weapons |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Slash | Guard | Units | Weapons | |
| Slash | Guard | Units | Weapons | |
| Slash | Guard | Units | ||
| Pierce | Guard | Units | Weapons | |
| Pierce | Guard | Units | Weapons | |
| Pierce | Guard | Units | Weapons | |
| Pierce | Charge | Units | Weapons | |
| Strike | Guard | Units | Weapons | |
| Strike | Charge | Units | Weapons | |
| Strike | Hold to fire | Units | Weapons | |
| Magic | Guard and charge | Units | Weapons |
Attack types and enemies
The attack type decides which enemies take extra damage:
| Attack type | Strong against |
|---|---|
| Slash | Soft-bodied enemies, such as mantises and flowers |
| Strike | Hard-bodied enemies, such as elementals and skeletons |
| Pierce | Tough-skinned enemies, such as lizardmen |
| Magic | Enemies weak to the rod's element: magic gets a larger bonus from element advantage than other attacks |
Movement speed
Players compared how fast each weapon type moves around a long map. From fastest to slowest:
- Bow
- Dagger
- Lance and Rapier
- Sword, Dual Blades, Sniper Rifle and Mace
- Rod
This was measured by players, not stated by the game, so treat it as a rough guide.
