Status effects
Updated 16 Oct 2026
Sword skills, battle skills and enemy attacks can put status effects on units. Good ones (buffs) last a set time; when two of the same kind overlap, the stronger one counts.
Buffs
| Effect | What it does |
|---|---|
| Attack Up | More damage dealt for a while |
| Defense Up | Less damage taken for a while |
| Critical Up | Higher critical rate for a while |
| Attack Speed Up | Faster attacks for a while |
| Movement Speed Up | Faster movement for a while |
Units that give these are easy to find: search the effect in Skills.
Ailments
| Ailment | What it does |
|---|---|
| Poison | Lose HP over time |
| Burn | Lose HP over time |
| Paralysis | Cannot move for a while, even when hit |
| Sleep | Cannot move until it wears off or an enemy hits you. That hit is always a critical |
| Stun | Cannot move until it wears off or an enemy hits you |
| Slow | Quick-steps, jumps and movement are slower |
| Confusion | Directions are reversed |
| Blind | You can see much less of the field |
| Gravity | Quick-steps and jumps are halved while you stand in the marked area |
| No HP Recovery | HP cannot be healed for a while |
A guard break also stuns your unit for about three seconds; see Battle basics.
Dealing with ailments
- Resistances. Some armor and accessories carry battle skills such as "Poison Resistance" or "Paralysis Resistance". Search for them in Armor & Accessories and Skills.
- Watch for danger areas. Boss attacks show a red area before they land. Quick-step out of it.
- Sleep: the hit that wakes you is always a critical, so guard if an enemy is close.
