Getting started

MD:Rebirth brings back Sword Art Online Memory Defrag: the original game, running on a new fan-made server. It is free, and it is a fan project. It is not run by or connected to Bandai Namco.

The game is in testing. Some screens are still empty and more content is added over time. Check News for what changed.

What you need

An Android phone or tablet (the install guide covers the details).
The MD:Rebirth app. See Install MD:Rebirth.

Your first steps

Install the app and open it. The first download fetches the game files.
Play the tutorial. It ends with a free scout for your first characters.
Follow the story in Quests. Story chapters unlock one after another; see Quests & Events for every chapter, its enemy levels and its drops.
Build a team. Look up any character in Units: stats, sword skills and battle skills.

Units, weapons and gear

Units are the characters you play. Each has a rarity (★1 to ★6), an element and a weapon type.
Weapons must match the unit's weapon type, and they add to its stats.
Armor and accessories add HP, DEF and other stats, and some carry battle skills.

Browse them all in the Database.

Elements

Hitting an enemy with the element it is weak to deals more damage.

Scouts

Scouts are the game's summons. The Scouts page lists the scouts running now, their featured units, step-up bonuses and the rates for each rarity.
