Scouts and Weapon Purchase

Updated 16 Oct 2026

Scouts are how you get new units: you spend Memory Diamonds and get random units from the banner's pool. The Scouts page lists every scout running now, with its featured units, steps and rates.

Prices

ScoutCost
SingleMemory Diamond 25 Memory Diamonds for 1 unit
11-unit scoutMemory Diamond 250 Memory Diamonds for 11 units

The 11-unit scout gives one unit for free, so it is always the better deal. Many banners also have a cheaper first 11-unit scout or a step-up (below).

Rates

The standard rates on MD:Rebirth, for each unit you draw:

RarityChance
★63%
★53%
★44%
★325%
★265%

All units of the same rarity share that rarity's chance, and a banner's featured units get part of the ★6 share. Banners without ★6 units move that share to ★2. The 11th unit has no minimum rarity.

At launch in 2017 the original rates were lower (★5 2%, ★6 0.5%). MD:Rebirth uses the later rates from the ★6 era. Each banner's own rates are on its page under Scouts.

Step-up scouts

On a step-up banner every 11-unit scout moves you one step, and later steps get better: discounted prices, higher ★6 rates and, on one step, a guaranteed featured or ★6 unit. A typical ★6 step-up:

StepCostBonus
1125Half price
2250
3200★6 rate x1.5
4250
5250One featured or ★6 unit guaranteed
6250★6 rate x2, and this step repeats

The exact steps differ per banner; the Scouts page shows each banner's steps.

Duplicates

Drawing a unit you already own gives Hacking Crystals instead, used for limit breaks:

DuplicateYou get
★21 Holy Hacking Crystal
★32 Holy Hacking Crystals
★450 Holy Hacking Crystals
★5100 Holy Hacking Crystals
★6100 Sacred Hacking Crystals of the unit's element

A ★4 or ★5 duplicate is exactly one limit break step for that rarity, so a duplicate is never wasted.

The tutorial scout

The tutorial ends with a free scout from the "Start Dash" banner. On MD:Rebirth it uses that banner's original rates (★4 4%, ★3 25%, ★2 71%), so a ★3 is not guaranteed. After the tutorial you also have Memory Diamond 300 Memory Diamonds to start with, enough for one 11-unit scout.

Medal Scouts

Ranking events reward Scout Medals, which buy units on special Medal Scouts. See Events.

Weapon Purchase

Under Scout, the Weap. tab holds weapon scouts. They work like unit scouts but give weapons:

  • Rates: ★4 4%, ★3 25%, ★2 71%. Weapon scouts give ★4 at most; ★5 weapons come from evolving a ★4.
  • An 11-weapon scout costs 150 Memory Diamonds on most banners. Some banners are step-ups with a guaranteed ★4 on a later step.
  • Duplicate weapons are kept as normal copies: use them to evolve, or trade them at the Weapon Exchange.

Weapon scouts are being rolled out on MD:Rebirth and may not be open for everyone yet. They appear on the Scouts page once they are.

Weapon Exchange

At the Blacksmith you can trade four ★4 (or better) weapons from weapon scouts for one ★4 weapon on the current Weapon Purchase list. Each weapon can be exchanged for once, and the new weapon starts at level 1. Using ★5 weapons as material also gives you Platinum Ingots for evolving.
